IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON TEACHING AND LEARNING
Research, sharing ideas, and learning skills are made easier with technology. Our students are able to work in a more collaborative manner because technology makes learning so flexible. A key component of collaborative learning is technology.
Even though textbooks still have a place in the classroom, students increasingly use laptops, tablets, and, increasingly, smartphones to research on the internet to support their studies. Lessons are delivered in an engaging manner on today's touchscreen displays thanks to software and apps. Students can download homework assignments and classwork, making the whole education experience much more interactive than it used to be in schools a decade ago.
1. Reducing the time it takes to prepare lessons
Changing technologies have certainly influenced teaching in schools. Technology should always be used as an enhancement to education, rather than as a replacement. However, it can be useful for schools that want to simplify teachers' busy schedules. A substantial level of classroom preparation can be supported by technology. Teachers can develop multimedia-rich interactive lessons and create assessments and assignments using software such as Promethean's Class Flow that can be delivered in and out of the classroom with a variety of technology platforms.
2. Assisting with assessments
Technology can be incorporated in many ways for assessment. The use of technology can, however, is viewed as an enhancement to assessment since schools are empowered to design flexible criteria that support a wide range of students' skills. As an example, Class Flow provides teachers with the ability to use real-time feedback, which they can use to determine whether their class is understanding a lesson, and drill down to the level of their individual comprehension, allowing them to re-explain certain topics if necessary. School reports and grades should improve generally as a result.
3. Transcending boundaries
A major benefit of technology is that lessons no longer take place solely within the four walls of the classroom. In this way, home and school can be considered one learning system. Through this empowerment, teachers can empower students to take responsibility for their education. Library and museum visits can be part of this empowerment. Online meetings, collaboration, and content creation are possible with technology. Student research, sharing of ideas, and learning skills are all possible with technology.
4. Promoting teamwork
Our students are increasingly able to work collaboratively because technology allows for such flexibility in learning. Tech facilitates collaboration like no other factor. With an IFPD, students contribute their ideas to the content of the lesson from a front-row seat. Students can also participate in problem-solving activities with their peers and create a more collaborative learning environment. Mobile devices and laptops are essential devices for online learning and remote collaboration outside the classroom. Technology supports students' ability to generate creative approaches to problem-solving and to work with peers, a critical characteristic for future career success.
Learning novel concepts in a traditional classroom is a challenging task for students. The learning process can be accelerated for students who use self-paced components. Practice can be done outside of classes with guided exercises or additional coursework for those who need additional time. More challenging works are available for those who desire them.
What are the effects of technology on student learning? An overview
Incorporating technology into your teaching practice can provide a new way for students to connect with and engage with course material. While technology has its limitations, it offers a new way for students to interact and engage with course material. After the COVID-19 pandemic, students are more accustomed to learning with technology. Technology tools have allowed education to transcend classroom walls. YouTube videos and social media can be incorporated into your lesson plans; they don't have to be distractions. Better learning outcomes are the result.
